Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Blade Arts (Nintendo Switch) Various Blade Arts in battle. Blades have their own Arts which they use in battle to support their Drivers, granting effects such as increased accuracy or damage reduction. Every time a Blade Art's trigger condition is met, there is a chance that the Art will be activated. May 10, 2018 Any of my search term words; All of my search term words; Find results in. This post will contain spoilers for the entire main story of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, so I'd recommend finishing that before reading.
This won't be anything like Enel's 30 second Ophion killing build but rather a build that can comfortably take on higher level Unique Monsters and Superbosses (UMs above Level 99) without too much trouble.
Additionally, I intend to make all of this build completely feasible for anyone who has beaten the game, so that means:
-No DLC
-No RNG blades (with one exception)
-No NG+ exclusive content
This build is a framework. It is by no means the best build you can make, and I would recommend playing around with the blades used if you have better ones or ones you like more, and also using AUX Cores, Accessories, and Pouch Items, which I won't be going over here, since in a build like this these aspects are more suited to be decided by your playstyle.
With all that said, let's get right into it.

The Drivers
For this build, I would recommend for your party to consist of:
Position 1: Rex
Rex is the most versatile driver, and most suited to a Cavalier class (ATK and HLR blades). Because of this and Pneuma and Nia, two of his exclusive blades, being particularly powerful, especially when manually controlled, Rex most well suited to being the party leader.
Position 2: Mòrag
Mòrag is an exceptionally good evasion tank, making her essentially the Dunban of XC2, and she doesn't require you to play Tiger Tiger or get the DLC or start NG+ like Tora does to become viable.
Position 3: Zeke
Zeke is this game's glass cannon, and he works especially well with Ether Cannon weapons, which are particularly powerful in full bursts. Through trial and error, I have concluded that with this build, having the drivers in this order will ensure that Zeke lands the full burst, optimising damage output.
The Blades
Rex:
Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma [Fire/Light/Any]
Nia [Water]
Pandoria [Lightning]
The Aegis is essentially a requirement in achieving as many elements as easily as possible, due to being the only feasible light blade in this build, having 2 base elements but the ability to easily fill a single gap in your elemental build, and just generally being a very viable blade.
Nia is the most viable healer blade feasible for this build, especially with her move 'Redemption', an exceptional party healing move that works well as a panic button if you're low on health.
To move Pandoria onto Rex, move her to any position other than Zeke's top position blade, then choose her as Rex. She has a Launch art, complimenting the Aegis's Topple art, and is a strong lightning elemental, complimenting a later blade in this build. https://cyclenew639.weebly.com/can-i-download-internet-explorer-on-my-mac.html.
Xc2 Blade Combo
Mòrag
Brighid [Fire]
Aegaeon [Water]
Theory [Ice]
Brighid and Aegaeon are both acquired by Mòrag through story progress, and are both highly viable in terms of abilities and elements, since Fire and Water are the most common, and Theory, especially when used with a Pentagon Chip, is a very viable evasion tank, and having Ice as an element opens up new Blade Combo routes.
Zeke
Herald (Lightning)
Sheba (Water)
T-elos (Dark)
Herald is the blade with the single highest damage output in the game, and both her Level 1 and Level 3 specials are ridiculously powerful in Chain Attacks, with her Full Burst being quite possible the most powerful, although due to critical hits it is hard to gauge which Full Burst is the actual most powerful. Furthermore, having a Lightning element on 2 drivers is very useful for Blade Combos.
Sheba, like Herald, is one of The Big 3 Ether Cannons, the third being KOS-MOS, and her Level 2 special being very powerful in Chain Attacks makes up for Herald's Level 2 being relatively underwhelming. Her element being Water establishes a through line, so all drivers have Water blades, increasing the ease with which you can pull off a lot of Blade Combos.
T-elos is a blade with arguably equal power to her counterpart, KOS-MOS, and while KOS-MOS is the rarest RNG blade, T-elos is the most common by far, and can only be unlocked after beating the final boss. (If you are in NG+ but aren't yet at the final boss, you can still unlock T-elos). Because of how easily obtained T-elos is, she is the exception to the 'No RNG blades' rule of this build.
The Strategy
Best Blades Xc2
The general strategy for reliably killing Unique Monsters in the postgame with this build is to:
1) Use Blade Combos, ending in different elements, to put 4 or 5 Elemental Orbs around the UM. Below are cheat sheets made by @ArchTalko on Twitter for the different possible Blade Combos and their Sealing effects.
2) Once this is done, and you have a full party guage and a golden Affinity between Rex and Pyra/Mythra, initiate Pneuma's Ascended Form (Hold R and press X)
3) Use this to add one more Elemental Orb of a different Element.
4) Initiate a Chain Attack, ensuring all Drivers are alive and Pneuma's Ascended Form is still active.
5) Continue the Chain Attack, and make sure that Herald bursts the 4th Elemental Orb, and 5th if that didn't initiate a Full Burst.
6) This ensures that Herald will perform the Full Burst, dealing incredibly high damage values, which should be enough to instantly kill the opponent.
So yeah that's the build! There are much better ones out there but this is just a competent build that can be made by anyone and stand up to superbosses.
also yes it turned out that i was just one sentence and 3 screenshots away from finishing this post when i started it more than a month ago
The attached photo shows all of the possible blade combos and shows the elemental paths needed to get the seals you need or want.
Xc2 Blade List
The rest of this guide originally appeared on Switchaboo (Blade Combo Guide):
One of the most important moves to master in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the Blade Combo. Blade Combos allow you to deal increasing amount of damage, as well as trigger special extra bonuses with your moves. There is a lot of terminology in XC2, so before we go over what a Blade Combo is, let’s have a look at the definitions first.
Pro tools download mac. Warning: This article may contain character spoilers. If the characters beginning with the letters N and T haven’t joined your party yet, then proceed with caution.
Definitions
Driver Arts refers to moves designated to the X, Y, and B buttons. For Rex, these are moves like Anchor Shot, Sword Bash, and Double Spinning Edge.
Special Arts, also known as Blade Specials, refers to the move designated to the A button. In the beginning with Rex and Pyra, this refers to when you attack with moves using A. These are ranked from I-IV: for example, Pyra can use Flame Nova -> Prominence Revolt -> Blazing End -> Burning Sword.
Driver Combos are explained much later on in the game, and refer to Break > Topple > Launch > Smash attacks. We’ll explain this in another article later.
Blade Combos refer to what we’ll talk about in this article. They involve using Blade Specials successively in order to maximise damage and achieve a special effect called a Sealing Art.
Rare Blades Xc2
An auto-attack is the regular attack that your character does when an opponent is targeted. Cancelling referring to using a Driver/Special Art as soon as an Auto-attack or Driver/Special Art lands. This is indicated when a blue circle radiates from your character, if you press the Driver/Special Art at the right time (a split second after an auto attack lands).
Fusion Combos referring to inflicting Driver/Blade combos while an existing Driver/Blade combo is in effect.
So…how does the Blade Combo fit into all this?
Firstly, charge up your special move by cancelling at the right time. This means using any of your X, Y, or B moves with perfect timing as soon as any of your regular attacks hit, which will emit a blue ring and charge up your other Driver Arts and Special Move faster:
A Blade Combo can then be started when the square corresponding to the A button has a number in it. In the case below, we’ve charged up a Level 1 Blade Special:
Simply press A to activate it and start your Blade Combo. After that, you’ll notice that in the top right hand corner, a “tree branch” of sorts appears:
By having used this Blade Special, you have activated the ability to use a Blade Combo. From there, you can “stack up” more and more powerful moves. As you can see, the next move in the sequence is either a Fire move or a Water move. If you wanted to use Fire, you would have to charge Rex’s Blade Special up to Level II (a Level I special will not make the combo progress). However, what’s even better is that you can get your teammates to keep the combo going. For example, below you can see that there is a blue rectangle indicating that Nia can launch a Water special move and keep the combo going (the ZR button only appears when Nia is ready to launch her attack):
Keep in mind that if the gauge that says ‘Heat’ at the top runs out of time, then you have to start your special again.
Since it hasn’t run out, if we press ZR at this point, you will launch Nia’s Level II Special, which also makes the combo progress. In this case, Nia’s move is Steam Bomb:
It just so happens that whilst Nia has been launching her special attack, we’ve been busy with Rex charging up our Blade Special (A button) to Level III, in the same picture above. You can also see that the highlighted part of the “tree branch” indicates where we are in the combo.
To begin with our final move of the combo – in this case, a Fire special – we simply press A when our Level III move is charged. This launches an epic attack:
This attack not only does a lot of damage, but also has two extra bonus effects to go along with it!
The first is that you activate a Seal Art. In the case above, you activate the Seal Self Destruct effect.
The second is that you have now inflicted an elemental orb onto your opponent. You can burst these for ridiculously huge amounts of damage in a Chain Attack, which we’ve written a separate tutorial on.
And this is why it’s good to have lots of different elements in your party
The Blade Special you use in the beginning determines what options you have in terms of being able to combo in different directions. For example, if you used a Water special to start your attack, the combo sequence looks totally different. Having lots of different members with different elements in your party allows you to be able to combo with any of your party members at the right moments, just when you need them.
Summary of How To Perform Blade Combos
Initiate a Blade Combo by using the A button. Then follow up with a Level II Blade Special using A (or alternatively by using ZL or ZR when your party members are ready to attack). And then follow that with a Level III or Level IV Blade Special.
Another tip to maximize effectiveness of blade combos is that if your Arts aren’t charging fast enough, or the enemy has an ability than lowers them or your specials, you can extend the time you have to charge your next special by executing a driver combo (Break, Topple, Launch, Smash). Any part of this combo will slightly increase the time needed to continue a blade combo, but the amount of time is increased exponentially if you can complete a full driver combo.
By performing blade combos you can create seals (represented in the attached photo) that will cut off abilities that your enemy can use against you. Each seal will be represented by an orb that orbits around the enemy. The more seals you have, the more effective a chain attack on the enemy can become.
